Itineraries to do by car or bike, to find out more about the area’s disseminated historical and religious off-the-beaten track heritage
Let’s imagine for a moment that we are climbing the Lombard side of the lake along a line which links together historic towers and castles and thousand-year-old churches, ranging from the Valtenesi castles – Padenghe, Moniga, Soiano, Manerba – to the pieve churches of the upper lake, from Salò to Gargnano, Tignale to Valvestino. This is the I Castelli e le Pievi del Garda bresciano project conceived of by Consorzio Garda Lombardia and soon available to tourists and visitors. Two themed itineraries suitable for both cars and bikes will link up a frequently little known disseminated historic and religious heritage, providing visitors with a unified reading of these sites – including smaller towns and uncrowded internal areas off the beaten track. And all this with the help of digital tools designed for everyone: an interactive map, on-site QR codes, 360° virtual tours and professional photos and videos. A great deal of attention will also be paid to accessibility, with detailed info available for the individual sites ensuring that experiences are truly accessible to all visitors. “Our aim is to give even the smallest of our towns the tools to get their extraordinary sites known, sites which often remain on the margins,” stressed the President of Consorzio Lago di Garda Lombardia, Stefania Lorenzoni.
