The Coast Guard and Navigazione Laghi step up their prevention campaign
Safety in the water, and especially at the lakes, is first and foremost a matter of prevention and caution. This is the concept behind a campaign launched by the Coast Guard and Navigazione Laghi to raise awareness among those visiting, bathing in and sailing on the Italian lakes in the summer. It is an initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to generate a culture of caution and responsibility. The core of the campaign is a good practice guide setting out the main safety rules to be displayed on board Navigazione Laghi’s boats and ticket offices with a view to reaching thousands of passengers in the most direct way. This info campaign draws people’s attention to the right behaviour when bathing or sailing, urging people not to underestimate the risks involved in leisure activities in the water. The goal is to prevent accidents by means of certain simple tips: following sailing rules, avoiding risky behaviours, paying attention to the weather conditions and making use of the safety equipment available. “The lakes are places to have fun in company,” says Gestore Governativo Pietro Marrapodi, “and we hope that this campaign, promoted together with the Coast Guard and sponsored by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, will reach the largest numbers of people possible.
The goal is that the thousands of passengers using our services every day pay attention to the messages the posters are trying to get across, thereby contributing to raising awareness around the theme of water safety.”
