The new Como Navigazione ship has officially been handed over, bringing the fleet to a total of 36 ships for the 2026 summer season

A new unit is added to the Como Navigazione fleet. Olimpia, Gestione Governativa’s 101st ship, has been officially handed over, set to strengthen public transport services on Lake Como ahead of the 2026 summer season.

Launched on 17 November in Dervio, this hybrid vessel marks a further step forward in the modernisation and sustainability of the Larian fleet. The handover was formalised on 8 April in the presence of Government Manager Pietro Marrapodi, with the signing of the handover report officially transferring the unit.

The ship was built by Cartubi Srl, the winning bidder in the public tender, which managed the entire production process: from hull construction to systems, fittings and interior outfitting. Work was completed following the successful completion of all technical tests required to obtain European certification for inland navigation and the RINA class certifications.

The name Olimpia was chosen by public social media ballot, directly involving the wider public. The vessel is a further piece of the Authority’s investment plan for the coming decade and will be accompanying its twin Ambrosiana, launched in recent months in the presence of Minister Matteo Salvini, reaffirming the commitment of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to the renewal of the service.

Entry into service is scheduled for summer 2026, following the necessary crew training period.

With this new addition, the lake’s operational fleet reaches 36 ships, consolidating the strategic importance of public boat services to lake transport and local tourism.
