Navigazione Laghi follows a path made up of structural investments and the promotion of responsible tourism
On inland navigation environmental transition is not a fixed milestone. It is a constantly evolving journey melding technological innovation, respect for the environment and new transport needs. In this scenario, Navigazione Laghi is still charging ahead on a path made up of concrete and progressive steps, structural investments and the promotion of an increasingly responsible tourism.
Where tourist promotion and integrated transport is concerned the figures speak for themselves: campaigns whose goal is to incentivise car-free travel are benefiting the whole area, contributing to bringing air and noise pollution down and improving quality of life in the lakeside towns. After the 2025 record year – with its more than 12 million passengers and 690,000 cars – this year’s trend is for an additional and significant 5%, registered on 30 June. It is integrated transport which is making the decisive contribution to this, as the successful partnership with Trenord for train plus boat links shows, with more than 57,000 travellers in 2025, a 12% increase on the previous year. But it is on the technical plane that the company’s industrial plan is showing its most innovative face, acting directly at the heart of the service. Investments have, in fact, concentrated on renewing the fleet with new hybrid propulsion boats, targeted refitting work and replacing old engines with new low-emission devices. These measures have been accompanied by boatyard energy streamlining and the positive outcomes of biofuel experiments, which have been successfully tested to ensure a progressively lower environmental impact.
On the occasion of European Mobility Week, Navigazione Laghi’s commitment is demonstrably a key factor in lake preservation in both landscape heritage and culture terms, showing that the future of inland navigation is necessarily a matter of a synergy between sustainability, technology and local promotion.
