The botanical gardens are coming back to life with guided visits and new events open to all

The new Villa Taranto Botanic Gardens season has officially begun. The 19 March opening ceremony included a symbolic gesture, the planting of a medlar tree and a new plaque in the Prato delle Personalità – Personality Meadow. The park is thus bursting back into life now with a packed calendar: 95 events including guided trips, cultural appointments, outdoor activities and meetings designed to get everyone involved, local people, including families, and tourists. The true spectacle is nature, however, as always. In spring the garden is bursting with colours: azaleas, magnolias and over 14,000 tulips in the maze are turning the park’s avenues into an immersive and constantly changing journey. The rhododendrons, dogwoods and ornamental plants flower in April and May while summer means hydrangeas, hibiscus, water lilies and exquisite lotus flowers. And when the season slows down, it is autumn camelias which bring it to a close in style. The gardens are also the ideal place in which to carve out a moment of true green wellness for yourself, a stroll through plants from all over the world, breathing in deeply and slowing down, letting nature’s rhythms guide you. A trip to Villa Taranto is not just a visit. It’s an experience in constant flux, just as the gardens’ founder would have wanted. And this year there’s more. The gardens are opening up to the community, with free days for local people and lots of inclusive initiatives.
