Water is the common thread of an area spanning from the Alpine peaks to the Brianza hills, passing the shores of Lake Como and the force of the Adda River, between memory and future, tradition and innovation
“That branch of the Lake of Como, which extends towards the south…”: with these words Manzoni opened the masterpiece that immortalised our landscapes, transforming the geography of the Province of Lecco into world literature.
From this springs the identity of a land that finds itself in its waters and in the mountains that frame it—this year celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Province of Lecco, now a young and self-aware adult. An anniversary that becomes an opportunity to share a vision and a path forward. The Province of Lecco is a unique mosaic: from Alpine peaks to the Brianza hills, from the shores of Lake Como to the power of the Adda. A land of many voices, all united by a clear common thread: water. The Adda, which flows into the lake, laps the Lecco shore, and then resumes its journey toward Milan, caressing our rolling hills, is a symbol of a community that thrives on connections, exchanges, and bonds.
In this diversity, the Province of Lecco finds its mission: to serve as a guardian and a bridge between different realities, enhancing diversity as a resource and building cohesion through networks, services, and shared projects.
In this spirit, Navigazione Laghi also plays its part in strengthening connections, visibility, and dialogue; its active participation in the Permanent Mobility Table, established by the Province of Lecco, has helped to promote intermodal transport, launch new integrated services and products, and foster the promotion of the area.
The lake and the mountains, the villages and valleys, industrious Brianza and the city of Lecco: all come together to shape an identity that thrives on memory and looks toward the future, blending tradition and innovation. I like to think that those who stroll along these shores rediscover a beauty that is not just landscape, but also a sense of belonging.
As Alessandro Manzoni reminds us, “the towns, the mountains, the rivers we saw as children are no longer the same; and yet they still speak to our hearts.” An invitation to look at our land with gratitude and pride, safeguarding and loving it every day.
