The historic timetables give the impression that these are not simply practical tools. They’re also mini style emblems in an artisan dimension which has now almost totally died out. Its clear, highly readable geometric lettering makes the Littorio style common in 1930s Italy especially recognisable, and it is surprisingly effective even today.
