ANDREA BARZOI
Lake Garda – Onboard assistant – Start of employment: 2005
“I started working in navigation as a casual employee in 2005 and became permanent in 2011. Since 2015, my role has been that of onboard assistant. My career in the company began in 2005, but even before that, I used to spend time at the port, indulging my love of boats. I turned my passion into a job. After obtaining my captain’s licence, I began sailing on other lakes too, and I’m now quite well-known both on Lake Maggiore and, especially, on Lake Como. Over time, these trips have allowed me to build genuine friendships with several colleagues. To do my job well, you need empathy, patience, and a passion for what you do — essential qualities for relating to passengers of different nationalities and cultures”.

CRISTINA LUCIANO
Milan – Administrative Assistant – Budget and Accounting Department – Start of employment: 2025
“I chose Navigazione Laghi because it represents a unique meeting point in our country between public service, local territory, and tradition. It’s an organisation that not only connects the shores of our main lakes, but also supports the closeness of our communities and their economic development. My working day begins with an analysis of the activities needed to ensure the accurate preparation of documents outlining procedural and administrative aspects, supporting planning, and providing summary reports to monitor economic performance. Each activity helps build an integrated and reliable view of economic and financial management, fostered through constant dialogue with the operating departments. Sharing and teamwork are what make the difference in such a complex and evolving public environment. To do this job well, you need analytical and listening skills. You must be precise yet flexible to navigate a specific accounting framework, ever-changing regulations, and the digital transformation. It’s important to understand how public administrations work and their organisational dynamics, to have a pragmatic approach, to grasp the significance of data, and to develop a comprehensive view of the company’s value chain processes”.

PAOLO GALLI
Lake Como – Pipefitter – Start of employment: 2006
“There wasn’t a specific moment when I realised this was the right place for me, because I was literally catapulted into the world of navigation — something that has been in my family’s DNA for generations. In fact, my grandfather, my father, and his two brothers faithfully served this company for many years, and over time I’ve come to appreciate and love it myself. What behaviours and routines do you typically adopt? I’m not sure. One way I behave could be always trying to get along well with everyone, by offering a hug, a smile, a greeting. And a routine? Working with dedication. In my job, as a pipefitter, you need to know a bit of everything and strive to keep up with all the innovations and new developments that come up year after year. To do what I do well, it takes a lot of dedication, patience, and the desire to keep learning — even after thirty years working in navigation. An unforgettable memory for me? The lake, with all its colours and shades. I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts about a company that truly feels like family to me”.
