ALESSIA CORTI – Lake Garda
“I realised that this job is exactly what I wanted because it represents the middle ground I’ve always been looking for; I carry out office tasks but at the same time I have the opportunity to go on board and see firsthand how everything related to a ship works, a fundamental step that allows for continuous feedback between theory and practice.
Navigazione Laghi has a large and varied fleet, which allows me to break away from monotony and constantly find new motivation.
To do this job well, I believe that teamwork with office colleagues—and especially with the various departments and workshops—is essential. I also believe that mental flexibility is necessary, since every ship is different and therefore each problem requires a different approach.
I started sailing on 2 May 2024, as a “sailor” on Lake Garda, and on 1 October 2025, I moved to work in the shipyard in Peschiera del Garda as “Technical Office Coordinator.
I graduated from the Nautical Technical Institute of Imperia and continued my studies, obtaining a degree in Naval Engineering at the University of Genoa.
I moved to Lake Garda just over a year and a half ago; before that I lived in Sanremo, and what I enjoy about Garda is definitely the Mediterranean climate and the chance to experience the lake almost like the sea (my main sport/hobby is sailing).
LUIGI CALÒ – Milan
“My experience with Navigazione Laghi began in 1988, the year in which I started developing skills within the Human Resources and Labour Relations Department. This was a professional field for which the vocational schools of my generation did not provide specific training, so clearly the credit for my professional growth must go to the Gestione Governativa Navigazione Laghi.
In this context, I had the opportunity to personally experience the initiatives undertaken by the company to launch processes aimed at improving employees’ knowledge and skills—initiatives developed over time to foster a positive corporate culture by promoting relationships, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. I am very pleased to leave a message to younger colleagues, encouraging them to carefully consider the opportunity that currently shapes their professional lives, inviting them to maintain (or even increase) their active participation by focusing their attention on the many possibilities that the Company can offer them.

MASCIA CHIRCO – Lake Maggiore
“I am tasked with recording the working hours of the various workshops both on board and on shore, so every morning, thanks to the excellent support afforded by each supervisor, I gather the daily reports, which I then enter into the shipyard labour hours management program. This enables us to track the number of hours devoted to repair work on each ship.

PAOLO RUSCONI – Lake Como
“I can’t pinpoint the exact moment when I realised that this was the job I was meant to do. I’ve dreamed of working on boats ever since I was a child, inspired by my father, and I grew up on the lake and its vessels. After years, starting from the bottom as a deckhand, I understood that steering boats was what I truly wanted to do in life — because I enjoy it and it comes naturally to me. The ships of Navigazione Laghi fascinate me, and I believe that passion is one of the key elements you need to do this job well. Passion constantly drives you to grow and improve. Moreover, I’m someone who works well in a team, and teamwork is essential in this profession.
