21 July is the anniversary of an infrastructure which is a byword for sustainable transport and local integration and important stakeholders and institutional figures will be attending the celebrations.
On 21 July Lazise will be the backdrop to a special event celebrating the 68th anniversary of Gestione Governativa Navigazione Laghi.
From 11 am to 2 pm the event is not just a celebration but also an opportunity to think about the strategic role played by a service which has been bringing together local areas, communities and landscapes for over six centuries now, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the areas it serves.
THE DAY
The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Sen. Matteo Salvini has been invited to take part in the event, which will feature a discussion on the value of lake tourism as a driver of economic-employment and regional development. It will also see the intervention of the Government’s political authority, Senator Alessandro Morelli, Undersecretary with delegated authority for Cipess (Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development), in dialogue with the regional councillors for transport of the Lombardy and Veneto regions; a second round table will deal with the topic of intermodal transport and will see the Government Manager Pietro Marrapodi and the top management of the main local public transport companies playing an important role. The two meetings will highlight the importance of Navigazione Laghi as an infrastructure of connection between the lake shores and communities, a fundamental element for sustainable mobility and territorial integration, and will highlight its role as a system actor capable of offering intermodal, digital and long-term services, responding to the needs of a constantly evolving area.
The event will be enhanced by the presence of a wider range of institutions, including mayors, stakeholders and operational partners, testifying to the strategic importance of this infrastructure for the region.
To enable those taking part to experience this connection network first hand a scheduled boat transfer will also be laid on.
The day will naturally end with a birthday cake decorated with a number 68 this year.
